What Does it Take to be a Code Official?
We hire both full-time and part-time Inspectors and Plans Reviewers. For part-time employees we are primarily looking for individuals who already possess the PA-UCC Building Inspector or Plans Examiner Certifications, along with at least one other certification. However, if you are interested in full-time work, we employee all experience levels, from complete novices to experienced professionals. If you're looking to get into a new field, the Building Code can offer a you a long and rewarding career.
Full-Time
Requirements and Expectations:

Must be able to obtain PA-UCC Building Inspector and Building Plans Examiner certifications within 18 months of employment

Will need to be able to prepare for and obtain six Commercial Inspector Certifications

Must be able to effectively use applications like Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Must possess the physical condition necessary to carry out the duties of a Certified Code Official
Part-Time
Requirements and Expectations:

Must possess at least a Commercial Building Inspector Certification and one other ICC/PA-UCC Commercial Certification in order to apply

Must be able to inspect a variety of commercial and/or residential properties

Must be able to effectively use applications like Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Must possess the physical condition necessary to carry out the duties of a Certified Code Official
